The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve announces a call for entries for The NEW NOW, September 9 – 29, 2014.

The NEW NOW is a competitive all media showcase of the best art of the 16 counties of the Western Reserve. This juried biannual exhibition is modeled after the Cleveland Museum of arts May show and hopes to attract the best talent in Northeast Ohio. AAWR has partnered with Tri C's Eastern Campus to present this show in Gallery East, a beautiful 3,000 sq foot gallery space seen by 1,000 visitors a month. The gallery can easily accommodate artwork of almost any size including large paintings, installation, and sculpture. Cash awards will be presented at the opening reception and a color catalog will be printed with photos of award winning work and a listing of all accepted entries.

ENTRIES ARE BEING ACCEPTED NOW THROUH JULY 1, 2014!

Janice Driesbach, the Chief Curator at the Akron Art Museum since 2012, and former interim director from Jan – July of 2013, will jury the exhibition.
Driesbach has an extensive background in contemporary art and before coming to Akron worked as Director of the Dayton Art Institute, Director of the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden in the University of Nebraska and Interim Director and Curator of Art at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento CA. She has published and lectured extensively on the art of the 20th century and is eager to see the regional art that Ohio has to offer.

This show is presented by the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve in partnership with Cuyahoga Community College and supported by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, and the Ohio Arts Council.
